SEIU Local 1 Canada won a certification vote on Monday, August 9, 2010 at Yee Hong LTC in Markham. SEIU won the vote by 86%, a large margin of victory. Over 130 RNs, RPNs and PSWs are now members of the ever-growing SEIU family.

“Management at Yee Hong LTC needs to treat their employees with the respect and dignity they deserve,” said Rabia Syed, the lead organizer for the campaign. ”Other issues SEIU will bring to the table include scheduling and wage adjustments for these workers.”

Many other unions have attempted to organize this nursing home with little success. SEIU has once again proved why it’s the best union in the business.
