Gong Xi Fa Cai! Kung Hei Fat Choi! That’s the traditional Chinese New Year greeting that means “wishing you prosperity” in Mandarin and Cantonese, respectively.
January 23rd marked the first day of the Chinese New Year. It’s the most important of holidays celebrated by millions of Chinese people around the world. This 15-day celebration culminates with the Lantern Festival.
Each year is associated with one of twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac. For 2012, it’s the Year of the Dragon. In Chinese astrology the dragon is quite special and very much revered.
